Three seats on Council become available for elected members at the AGM on Sat 26 Jan 2019. The election by full (voting) members takes place in advance, over Christmas & the New Year. Nominations are invited from 09:00 on Mon 1 Oct on https://www.mi-nomination.com/bpa Nominations close at noon on Tue 13 Nov. If you are a BPA full member who may be interested, please read Form 178, Duties and responsibilities of a Council Member; and Form 297 Council Member role description (use the 'Search Forms' box). Nominees require a proposer and seconder, who must also be current full members.
The award is for a UK-based skydiver whose achievements during the year deserve special recognition. Please email your nomination, in no more than 250 words, to skydive[at]bpa.org.uk by Wednesday 14 November 2018. Council will consider the nominations at its meeting later that month. The award will be presented at the awards ceremony following the AGM at BPA Skydive the Expo at EMCC Nottingham on Saturday 26 January 2019.
The weekend of 1-3 September sees the 8-way FS, Artistics and Speed BPA Nationals hosted by Skydive Hibaldstow. Registration for these closes at 17:00 on 31 August with early bird discount for registrations before 17:00 on 29 August. More here. As part of BPA's contract with our media partner Archant Dialogue, we're running a campaign in Archant print and digital media to let everyone know about our fantastic sport. With an estimated reach of 3.7m people across a range of Archant titles, our message to first-time jumpers is 'This jump will... make my year / help a good cause / rock my world / prove I can fly'. Did you know that the BPA FS Nationals are open to any skydiver with at least an A Licence and FS1 - even if you've never competed before? If you've never taken part, why not join this year's first-time competitors? The 4-way and VFS events take place on 24-27 August. Registration closes at 17:00 on 23 August, with an early bird discount if you register by 17:00 on (CORRECTION) 21 August. At its meeting on 7 August, BPA Council appointed 3Si to develop its new Personal Information Management System (PIMS) and web hub. Based at Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, 3Si Limited specialises in providing the UK not-for-profit sector with versatile and customisable member relations management software under the brand name OM.net. 3Si emerged from an open competitive tender process as BPA's preferred bidder. 35 expressions of interest resulted in 11 bids for the contract. The bids were considered by BPA's tender team comprising Graham Spicer (Chair, IT Strategy Group), Craig Poxon (Development Chair) and Adrian Bond (Communications Chair) who together have expertise in IT and commercial contracts.
BPA's contract with 3Si is due to be finalised during mid-August so the discovery phase of work can begin and a timeline be agreed.
