Skydiving is a highly competitive sport at regional, national and international level. It is one of the most exciting opportunities for sports sponsorship, providing tangible benefits for almost any business. A fresh, young sport, it captures the imagination of the public, especially the 18-35 age group. A wealth of high quality digital video and stills provide media and viewers with stunning, high profile, lasting images.

Skysurfing - It takes great control just to stand upright on a board when travelling at 120mph, never mind the skill required to perform funky manoeuvres. Teams consist of 2 jumpers; one on a board and the other with a helmet-mounted camera. This discipline uses the gymnastic skills of the surfer and the creativity of the camera flyer who films them whilst taking an active part in portraying an exciting image on video.

Skysurfing is one of three skydiving disciplines known as 'Artistic Events'.  The others are Freestyle and Freefly.

Probably the most widespread form of jumping, Formation Skydiving is linking different formations with others in freefall and is a high speed competitive discipline testing mental ability as well as physical skills. It is one of the few sports where women can compete on equal terms with men as part of a 4 Way or 8 Way team. Formation Skydiving was one of the sports selected for representation back at the World Games 2001 that are used to consider new sports for the Olympics, where it got a positive reception from spectators and media alike for being a thrilling and exciting sport.

Canopy Formation is about ‘precision collisions’ with your main parachutes. Teams leave the aircraft, open their parachutes as link them together. It is possible to build many different canopy formations in sequence. There are three main types of Canopy Formation events: rotations, sequential, and speed.  Each involves teams often of 4, plus the camera operator.  Teams demonstrate the ability to combine precision control, consistency, a delicate touch and mental engineering of the entire dive with brute force and speed. The idea is simple, but it's a challenging skill to master.

The above are just some of the skydiving disciplines.  Others include relatively new disciplines such as Canopy Piloting and more traditional ones such as the Classics disciplines of Style and Accuracy.

British skydivers are high-class sportsmen and women at the peak of their chosen sport. With your help, they have the capability of winning Gold medals in front of an international audience - witness the UK women's 4-way Formation Skydiving team VMax who were crowned World Champions in 2003 and Team Airkix who were crowned World Champions in 2006!  Our teams have been very successful in international events but need extra resources to overcome superior funding from teams such as the USA, France and Russia. We can offer a flexible approach to sponsorship, allowing packages to be tailored to suit your company. Any backing, however small, will make a difference whether it is for the whole UK delegation or just one team.

See more about our current British Delegations on our World Parachuting Championships and World Cup pages.

If you or your organisation may be interested in sponsoring the UK delegation, or teams within it, and would like more information or to discuss a tailored sponsorship package, please e-mail  skydive@bpa.org.uk
