After doing 600 training jumps and fifteen 4 way meets, winning
the Florida Skydiving League and the British Nationals (and not doing
quite as well as we had hoped in the World Cup in Portugal), XL sat
down and looked at one of our long term goals: Australia '99 - and
how we could excel even more! |
More Jumps Required!
Seeing how close we were to the medals in Portugal simply added more
fire to us and our sponsors. Skydive Sebastian owner Andy Grimwade immediately
said that jumps were not an issue and we should do as many as we could
before October '99. So we started the winter off with 200 jumps in November,
upping our daily jump number to 12-13. We also planned our training schedule
well in advance to incorporate 20+ (!) weeks of jumping. The plan is to
do at least 1,000 jumps before the meet. Contrary to popular belief we
do not get paid to train, we live on skydives and the Florida sun!
Outside Coaching
Another step for us was to look into getting more coaching, we have
been coached in the past and always felt huge benefits from it. Before,
we only ever planned a week each year but the whole team was decided on
getting as much outside coaching as possible.
Training Schedule
XL will be training on the following dates, if anyone would like to
do some coaching or one-on-one we can work almost any time between these
dates:
- Jan 17 - Feb 7
- March 10 - 23
- April 8 - 22
- May 1 - 15
- May 22 - June 5
- June 12 -26
- July 3 - 17
- Aug 7 - end of World Meet
XL is fully committed to improving and pushing the national and international
standard, we are 'at it' full time and if anyone has any ideas on how
we could do even better please get in touch!
