Our BPA Stars 2017 shine in going the extra mile to help and support A licence holders and above to develop their skills and confidence in our sport. Congratulations to Kate Lindsley (Langar), Clem Quinn (Headcorn), David Sawyer (Dunkeswell), and Harry Shanker (Netheravon).
Jackie Smith has won the BPA Jim Crocker Sword for her Outstanding Contribution to Sport Parachuting. The only British inductee to the USA-based Skydiving Hall of Fame, Jackie joined the Parachute Regiment's Freefall Display Team the Red Devils in 1971 (see photo). She won numerous Nationals in Style & Accuracy and also in FS. In 1978, she took World Gold in Female Accuracy, being the first person in the world to score consecutively 10 x 0.00cm on an electronic pad at a World Championships. Jackie continued to compete and win medals and awards for many years after that.
Congratulations to Dan Guest, winner of the BPA Taz Causer Experienced Skydiver of the Year Award 2017. Dan has enjoyed an extremely successful skydiving year in 2017. He won the BPA Nationals in 3 different disciplines - CP, VFS and Freestyle - and also took Bronze at the World Cup in Freestyle. BPA Council has invited Dan to receive his Award at the presentation ceremony following the AGM at EMCC Nottingham NG7 2RJ on Saturday morning, 27 January. (Pic by Rob Lloyd)

Voting is now open for the 3 elected seats on Council that become vacant at the AGM. There are 4 candidates - Paul Applegate, Adrian Bond, Ian Marshall and Georgie Vacher. Full (voting) members should have received a ballot notification by email, except those who have opted for a ballot pack by post, which should have arrived before Christmas. In the event of non-receipt, first please check your spam folder, and then notify the Mi-Voice (scrutineers) helpline on 02380 763 987 (open 09:00-17:30 M-F except bank hols) or email support[at]mi-voice.com
There are 4 candidates for the 3 elected seats on BPA Council (BPA's Board of Directors) that become vacant after the AGM in January. Therefore, the seats are contested and an election is triggered. The candidates are, in alphabetical order: Paul Applegate, Adrian Bond, Ian Marshall and Georgie Vacher. Voting (by full BPA members) opens on Monday 18 December and closes at noon on Thursday 11 January. Voting members are encouraged to use the online voting site provided by independent election scrutineers Mi-Voice. The URL of the voting website will issued in the ballot communication to voters, and a link posted on the BPA website.
Entry to BPA Skydive the Expo 2018 is free-of-charge. Simply turn up on the day - Saturday 27 January 2018 at EMCC Nottingham NG7 2RJ - to enjoy everything that's on offer. BUT if you register in advance - free of charge, of course! - you'll automatically be entered for our fantastic free Grand Prize Draw (on the day) with some awsome prizes from our exhibitors (you have to be present at the draw to claim your prize). To pre-register, just enter your details on the Expo website. Good luck in the Grand Prize Draw!
Tickets for the BPA Gala Dinner at EMCC Nottingham on Saturday 27 January 2018 - the evening of the BPA AGM and BPA Skydive the Expo 2018 - are now on sale, price £29.95 each, from BPA HQ. Please download Form 239 using the Forms search box on this page for the menu and ticket order form. Seating will be in rounds of 10, tables may be reserved if booking 10 tickets at the same time. If the vegetarian option (V) is required, it must be requested on booking. Also, please advise on booking of any special dietary requirements. There will be live entertainment and a DJ.
3 seats of 3 years' tenure are available on BPA Council from the AGM 2018. Council members are non-executive directors of British Parachute Association Ltd, responsible for policy and strategy. Nominations are invited from full BPA Members - please consider the Council Member role description (BPA Form 297) and duties and responsibilities of a Council member (BPA Form 178). Full members with the requisite skills and experience are encouraged to apply via the nominations website. Nominations close at noon on Tuesday 14 November. If there are more than 3 nominees, an election will be held.
