Message of congratulation to the team from John Smyth, BPA Chairman

Absolutely superb! My warmest congratulations to all involved. This is a magnificent achievement especially when you consider the immense pressure the Team were under knowing it was being videoed and broadcast live across a continent, notwithstanding the fact they had already achieved the formations in practice jumps. joh smyth OutstandingI spoke to Andy Scott about an hour before take off and a few minutes after landing. They were all absolutely elated and really encouraged in the knowledge that the whole of the BPA were behind them. This is particularly important as all the skydivers in this ad were British BPA Members. I believe it will be linked into BJ Worth's ads for Honda with US jumpers.Let's all take a little time to reflect on the fact that this was a live transmission, Air to Air, that was watched by an estimated 2.5m viewers on Ch 4. I believe it shows the potential for promoting our sport in competition if we can just find the right format. Twenty years ago no-one would ever believe snooker could attract such vast live audiences, but look at it now. It is certainly something I shall be taking forward at IPC to seek to develop a strategy over the next 5 years using this ground-breaking TV ad, made by Brits, as a prime example. In the meantime, on behalf of the Council and the whole Membership, we send all the team our heartiest congratulations. We are so proud of them for making this ground-breaking achievement. Message of congratulation to the team from John Smyth, BPA Chairman

British skydivers make history with live tv ad

British skydivers have made television history. The first ever live advertisement on British tv featured a live skydive in which the letters H-O-N-D-A were spelt out in formation. The ad ran on Channel 4 at 2010 on Thursday 29 May 2008. Click here to see the ad on the Honda website. Its part of the campaign for the new Honda Accord, which has the theme 'Difficult is worth doing' British skydivers make history with live tv ad

Membership survey results

Members have said it's time to update the BPA website with a facility for online renewals. The Council plans to launch a new website later this year, and to phase in more online services including renewals in a four-stage programme.

Welcome to the new BPA website

3 Nov 08 - This new website stemmed from the original concept by our competition winner Tom Urbanski in conjunction with our new web hosting and and database company Hayes Computing Solutions Ltd (Hcoms), the Communications Committee and a lot of work and assistance from the BPA office. The key difference between the existing website and this new one is not so much the cosmetic sprucing-up, but the fact that the new website has hidden depths in respect of a new and advanced database management system that will be exploited as we move to the second phase of site development which will include on-line membership renewal and on-line voting. The web pages will, on a regular basis be changed and revised, thereby keeping it 'alive and fresh' along with other innovations which will be developed by the Communications and Development Committees. It is important to receive feedback, and would therefore ask you to respond with any constructive criticism or even praise to skydive@bpa.org.uk Welcome to the new BPA website
