Editorship of Skydive the Mag |
16 Apr - Martin Soulsby, BPA Communications Chair, says "I am very sorry to inform the membership that Lesley Gale has resigned from the position of Editor of Skydive the Mag. After much discussion, I have have accepted her resignation. Lesley feels that after 15 years it is time for a change for her personally. I would like to thank Lesley on behalf of Council, the membership and the staff for her 15 years of great service in which time she has not only developed a World Class skydiving magazine but also given so much to the sport. I have known Lesley for over 20 years and consider her a friend. We will miss her great passion, her fantastic depth of knowledge and her professionalism. They will be very large shoes to fill. Lesley will still be involved in editing the next 2 issues of the Mag, during which time we will be undertaking the very hard job of seeking a replacement for her. I am sure you will all join me in wishing Lesley good luck in the future." |

Skydiver of the Year - Alistair Hodgson |
28 Jan - Alistair Hodgson has won the BPA Taz Causer UK skydiver of the Year Award 2009. It was presented at the BPA AGM in January 2010. Alistair is a highly skilled camera flyer, freeflyer, freefly coach and organiser. What a fantastic year 2009 was for him! He and his team Airkix Freestyle won the British Nationals in Freestyle for the second year running. They went on to fifth place in the World Cup and fourth in the European Championships. He was one of 14 who set a new Head Down British Freefly record. He gave his time to coach on BPA Freefly Roadshows. He helped to organise and participated in numerous skydiving events in the UK and internationally. Alistair has become an incredible role model and ambassador for our sport. As a Patron of Preston Disability Information Services Centre (now Disability Equality NW), he inspires people with physical disabilities. More than that, he inspires us all. |
